At The Pilates Architects, we believe Pilates equipment should be more than functional—it should be thoughtfully designed, beautifully made, and built to support a lifetime of movement. Based in Canoe, British Columbia, we create handcrafted Pilates equipment for studios, instructors, rehabilitation professionals, and dedicated home practitioners across Canada and the United States. Every piece is made with close attention to performance, proportion, materials, and finish. Rather than producing generic equipment in large quantities, we take a more personal approach, creating apparatus that reflects the needs of the people and spaces it is made for.
I was instantly intrigued by the method’s functionality and precision. I was impressed, inspired, and, if I’m being honest, a little intimidated by the equipment. And also… how did it make me feel that good? How could I share that experience with other people?
I began preparing for teacher training almost immediately. No messing around—I upended my life and moved to London, England, for an intensive mentorship with Licensed Teacher Trainer Siobhan Paton.
After completing the mentorship and gaining teaching experience, I was already hungry to learn more. That desire took me to Boulder, Colorado, where I studied at The Pilates Center and immersed myself in as much of its Teacher Training Program as I could.
The experience recharged my entire being. I met so many wonderful people, many of whom remain close friends today. And while I was in Boulder chasing my love of Pilates, I stumbled across the love of my life: my now-husband, Vic.
How fitting that Pilates brought us together. Now, here we are—building our dream and helping to build the Pilates community. Literally!
After years of teaching in different studios, and eventually owning a couple of our own, Vic had heard enough of my complaints about how difficult it was to find high-quality Pilates equipment in Canada. With his insatiable curiosity and drive to learn, he began exploring the engineering, mechanics, and craftsmanship behind professional Pilates equipment. He quickly discovered just how much precision is required to create apparatus that feels stable, responsive, smooth, and intuitive.
The proportions. The movement. The smallest details. The way the equipment feels beneath you. It truly is an art—and it is an art we have dedicated ourselves to mastering.
Today, The Pilates Architects designs and handcrafts custom Pilates equipment in Canoe, British Columbia. We build reformers, towers, Cadillacs, chairs, barrels, and other specialized apparatus for Pilates studios, instructors, and home practitioners throughout Canada and the United States.
Vic continues to refine the classical Pilates equipment we know and love, while also creating entirely new apparatus inspired by ideas that emerge from my teaching practice. Together, we combine firsthand teaching experience with thoughtful design and craftsmanship to build equipment that is beautiful, functional, and made to support meaningful movement.
One of those original creations is the Chairrel—a versatile piece of Pilates equipment inspired by play, exploration, and the desire to make more movement possibilities accessible. If you haven’t seen it yet, [discover the Chairrel here].
I still love teaching clients, but over time, that passion naturally expanded into teaching teachers. Today, I am thrilled to offer teacher training, retreats, workshops, and equipment demonstrations throughout Canada and around the world.
Pilates changed the direction of my life. It introduced me to a community I love, led me to my husband, and inspired us to create high-quality, handcrafted Pilates equipment here in Canada.
And somehow, the story still feels like it is only beginning.
